New test on colors bias with Zeiss, Swarovski and Leica

    Hi Stephen,

This time I have tested the 10x42 (Zeiss Victory FL, Swarovski EL and Leica Ultravid HD)

I have made some test on colors bias making photographs  through these binos with a Canon A95.  (Now I used the Zeiss quick-adapter with manfrotto grip 035 to make the photo. )

In the same conditions I took a picture of a visual chart and then with photoshop I have increased the saturation of each colors (red, yellow, green, cyan, blue and magenta) seperately and another all colors together up to 100%.

We can see a little magenta bias with the Zeiss and strong reddish bias on Swaro and Leica.
The cyan and green channel are very light in all case.
All suffer yellow bias on the edge but more with Zeiss.
Few blue bias on all binos (take note that strong colors bias on the edge of black/white chart caracter are more chromatic aberration then a overall colors bias).

On direct observation, I noted that Zeiss correct better the red chromatic aberration but all correct well chromatic aberration in the very central image. Photographic test indicate that Zeiss suffer more blue chromatic aberration. However, to my eyes, I was unable to see it. I also note a strong blue chromatic aberration on the edge of Swaro's bino and photographic test don't show it. Finally I see a overall colder image on Zeiss and overall warmer image on Swaro and Leica.

Are this test reliable? Can you see else more?
N.B. each photo photo up to down: zeiss, swaro, leica

I have remaked the test with better control of light source (incandescent) an I have calibrated the white previously. Don't care about the yellow: all the walls of the interior test was light yellow. But I think that the others colors coud be compared. At least these results are nearer then the naked eyes comparative.

    all colors saturated

    only blues:

    only cyan

    only green

    only magenta

    only red

    only yellow

    picture without bino
