25th Anniversary World Series of Birding
CMBO/NJ Audubon
Cape May, NJ

Carl Zeiss Sports Optics had two teams again this year in the World Series. Team ZEISS attempted the whole state, after last-year's record breaking Big-Sit, and the ZEISS Diascopers, bolstered by the addition of digiscoping great Paul Hackett of the UK (our hired gun) contested the DigiDay, in the "scope" division. Carl Zeiss also sponsors the Youth Division, and this year, we instituted a trophy for the winning level 5 team...the ZEISS/Pete Dunne Birders of the Future Award, to commemorate both the founder and the future of the WSB...as well as the future of birds and birding in North America.

The ZEISS Diascopers learned their lessons from last year: this year we had a driver/spotter and a van. Though we finished with exactly the same number or species, 93 captured in recognizable images, we had a much more pleasant day of it, despite the rain! Not bad!
